Other contact information: The cities and municipalities from Western Balkans with support of their Institutions and relevant Ministries had established an independent think tank called "South-East
European Federation of Cities and Regions for the Environment " with headquarters in Brussels.

This organization brings together not only the cities and municipalities, but also relevant Ministries, agencies for environmental protection and climate change, research centres and NGOs working in field of climate and energy.

Goals / remit

Goals / remit of the organisation: To bring together its members and other interested persons from scientific, political or economic domains in order to examine the current problems of environmental protection in the Balkan region. They shall investigate solutions to these problems on regional, national and international basis. For this purpose organization shall make a critical appraisal of the problems concerning the protection of man, animals and plants in the Balkan region from harmful effects of chemicals or climatic agents.

To give suggestions and recommendations concerning environmental quality and safety so as to enable the regulatory bodies of the various Balkan Countries to take proper decisions regarding the evaluation of the risk of chemicals and physical agents.
Development of strategies and options for environmental protection in the Balkan region and trough Europe.

Waste management monitoring
International research projects for neighbouring countries regarding the cross-border pollution.

Development of international programmes for restoration and sustainable improvement of ecological safety of cross - border regions.

Establishment of, an integrating framework for the support of local and international environmental

Engagement of activities on transboundary pollution as that affects public health.

Organization of the first conference on Energy and Environment for the Balkan countries in October in the European Parliament that shall bring together
representatives of the Balkan countries' regions, cities and municipalities as well as organizations such as ENEA, GTZ, GIZ, SAUR, and representatives of EU institutions.

Participation as Local parter in Open days 2011 within Committee of the regions in Brussels.
