Vattenfall is Europe’s fifth largest generator of electricity and largest producer of heat.
Consolidated sales in 2009 amounted to SEK 205,407 million. Vattenfall’s main products are electricity, heat and gas. In electricity, Vattenfall works in all parts of the value chain: generation, transmission, distribution and sales. In heat, Vattenfall is active in production,
distribution and sales. Vattenfall is also engaged in production and sales of gas, energy trading, and lignite mining. The Group has approximately 40,000 employees, and the Parent Company, Vattenfall AB, is 100%-owned by the Swedish state. Operations in 2009 were conducted in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Poland, the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium.
