Objective of the IGT e.V. is to assume responsibility in the representation of commercial interests for the tobacco business sector, namely for the tobacco manufacturing businesses, the tobacco growing sector as well wholesale and retail businesses of the tobacco sector. The representation of the commercial interests includes topics such as:
• the protection of trademark rights against counterfeiting and against the illicit trade of tobacco products in the EU members states
• exchange of scientific information on key regulatory issues related to tobacco products
• exchange of specific information on policy proposals regarding excise duties on tobacco products and related customs regulations within the European Union.
