Goals / remit

Goals / remit of the organisation: The European Cement Association is the representative organisation of the cement industry in Europe. Currently, its Full Members (27) are the national cement industry associations and cement companies of the European Union (with the exception of Cyprus, Malta and Slovakia) plus Norway, Switzerland and Turkey. Croatia is an Associate Member of CEMBUREAU.

The Association acts as spokesman for the cement industry before the European Union institutions and other public authorities, and communicates the industry’s views on all issues and policy developments with regard to technical, environmental, energy and promotional issues. Permanent dialogue is maintained with EU institutions, international authorities and other international associations.

CEMBUREAU plays a significant role in the world-wide promotion of cement and the ready-mix and precast concrete industries in co-operation with Member Associations and other relevant organisations. The Association regularly co-hosts conferences on specific issues aimed at improving the market perception of the concrete industry and promoting the use of generic cement and concrete products.

CEMBUREAU fulfills its primary objective of advancing its Members' interests through active representation of the European cement industry at European and international levels by:

- Enhancing the competitiveness of the cement industry;
- Developing environmental know-how;
- Promoting generically cement and concrete
- Making general and specific information available.

CEMBUREAU edits publications such as World Statistical Review.

CEMBUREAU has a commercial subsidiary: Cimeurope S.A.R.L
Cimeurope's mission is threefold:
• providing intellectual services to the cement industry in the field of energy;
• advising the cement industry on various topics upon request
• promoting final markets for cement

Cimeurope organises annual conferences such as “CEMPROSPECTs” (reviews the recent evolution of the steam coal and petcoke markets, freight and alternative fuels) and publishes CEMREVIEW, a report which focuses on the steam coal and petcoke markets.
