Goals / remit of the organisation: The Health Effects Institute is an independent, nonprofit organization established in 1980 to be an authoritative and impartial source of high-quality science regarding the effects of air pollution on human health. Through nearly 300 research projects in the U.S., Europe, Asia and elsewhere, HEI has advanced scientific knowledge on a range of air pollution issues relevant to regulatory and other actions to improve air quality.
