Goals / remit
| Goals / remit of the organisation: |
The Highlands & Islands European Partnership is a partnership between Highlands & Islands Enterprise, the development agency for the Highlands & Islands of Scotland, the 7 local authorities from the Highlands & Islands, and UHI, our university. The Brussels Office is managed by Highlands & Islands Enterprise on behalf of the Partnership.
Our role is to monitor EU policies and debates of strategic interest to our area, to analyse their impact on our region, to enable our members to make their voices heard, and to network with the institutions and key partners as well as to raise the Highlands & Islands' profile in Europe. We provide intelligence and advance warning of policy development and funding opportunities, and act as a facilitator for our region.

We supported the members of our partnership in achieving their main objectives by keeping them informed through our analyses and by involving them in Brussels activities and debates. We provided comprehensive support to visiting colleagues and maintained contact with the Scottish MEPs and relevant Commission staff. We prepared responses to consultations. We worked with other regions and regional networks with similar interests.
