At the core of our business is managing our customers' investments. In total we look after over £296 billion (1) of their assets.
We offer a range of products and services, through our Standard Life, Standard Life Investments, Standard Life Wealth and joint venture brands, to help people save for their future.
The Group operates in the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. We support around 4.5 million(2) customers worldwide, and a further 20 million(1) through our joint ventures in China and India.

Changes, strategy and policy related to financial services, long term savings, and investments. Consultations relating to our customers' financial wellbeing. Ongoing engagement with policy makers relevant to our ongoing business activities within the financial services sector.
In the past, we had an expert take part in the European Contract Law working group at the Commission.
Solvency II implementation, MiFID/MiFIR II implementation
We have one full-time person responsible for EU affairs who does not have an access pass to the EP. There are others who are involved as required in an advisory capacity, when their relevant expertise is helpful to discuss specific areas of consultation.
In addition, there are several large teams working on implementation of Solvency II and MiFID; none of these people have badges to the EP.

Standard Life belongs to, and engages with, a range of organisations whose activities may be relevant. Key groups are: Association of British Insurers (ABI), Investment Association (IA), Confederation of British Industry (CBI), Financial Future (FF), European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA), Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE), City of London Corporation, TheCityUK, European Insurance CRO (Chief Risk Officer) Forum, European Insurance CFO (Chief Finance Officer) Forum. We also subscribe to DeHavilland's EU monitoring service, and we use Cicero as our Brussels-based public affairs consultancy.
