To contribute to the European and international debate in regulatory, economic (supply chains in a diversity of sectors) and social planning by bringing evidence-based research into the table. To understand and incorporate European and international perspectives into our interdisciplinary (regulatory, business and planning) research aims. To push forward a greener, safer and sustainable economy agenda from a more comprehensive bottom up approach that includes the implications for soft and hard regulation, social responsible enterprises and communities and risk transfer prevention.
The most recent range of studies on the social and physical environments of the enterprise include sectors such as:
-Regulation of the Supply chain
-Vulnerability in the supply chain and risks in extractive and services' industries.
-Environmental risk and social conflict.

BRASS works with a Network of Business sectors, umbrella organisations and research institutes (in particular in the supply chains of the Automotive, Electronics, Extractive Industries, as well as Food and Rural Industries) in Wales, UK, Italy and overseas countries such as China, India, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Ghana, Russia, Uganda, Nigeria, US and Australia. As examples, BRASS centre has published in partnership with UNEP and has become a technical evidenced reference towards pro-low carbon (CO2) policies for this Institution; it has engaged on research with emerging EU Trade partners on Animal Health, Biosecurity and Risk Transfer such as India and Mexico; it focuses on transparency of Mining Industries in Russia and Ghana; it works to develop a regulatory comparative framework on Technological Waste with Australia and researches for UK government agencies on regulatory gaps on EU Nanotechnologies, etc. This enables not only a progressive international basis but also flexibility for diversification and specialisation based on EU-law, -business patterns and -participative territorial planning.
