Representing around 6 million workers in 54 unions, the TUC is the voice of Britain at work.
Our overall objectives are to raise the quality of working life and promote equality for all.
Our mission is to be a high profile organisation that campaigns successfully for trade union aims and values; assists trade unions to increase membership and effectiveness; cuts out wasteful rivalry; and promote trade union solidarity.
The Brussels office was established and functions to better enable the TUC to pursue these objectives at the European level, particularly within the ETUC.
Economic governance and European semester
Better regulation agenda and REFIT
working time directive
company law e.g. SUP
posting of workers enforcement directive
public procurement directives (implementation)
trade policy and TTIP, CETA etc
taxation and FTT
On most issues the TUC functions at the European level within the ETUC umbrella - and their (and our) interests are very wide. The TUC also maintains direct contacts with UK MEPs
It is usually our Brussels office that engages in lobbying activities. In this respect the activities under heading 9 occupy 100% of the Brussels office time, which employs only one person.

The TUC is a member of the European Trade Union Confederation, the International Trade Union Confederation, and the Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD.
