Each member company of the GAP has its own legal responsibility. The member companies are: Chr Hansen, Danone, Dupont, Lallemand Health Solutions, Probi, Valio and Yakult. GAP is not an association, rather an alliance of separate companies that come together to discuss and undertake joint action on certain non-competitive issues.
The GAP Secretariat is run by Burson-Marsteller.

| Goals / remit of the organisation: |
The common objective of GAP participants is to promote increased understanding and awareness of the probiotics category and the health benefits of probiotics among politicians and officials working either in the EU institutions or member state capitals, as well as towards other external stakeholders with an interest in such matters.
GAP participants want to promote an approach to scientific assessment which is appropriate to the probiotics category and to engage directly on any legislative or regulatory proposal which could impact the future authorisation of probiotic products or claims on them.
