Open Doors International is a Christian interdenominational organisation that supports Christians who are persecuted for their faith anywhere in the world, mainly outside Europe.
The ODI Advocacy Department focuses on violations of the fundamental freedom of religion or belief and lobbies for religious freedom worldwide, regardless creed or affiliation of the persons concerned.
ODI closely follows and monitors work related to and implementation of the EU guidelines on Freedom of Religion or Belief.
ODI closely follow the EU's foreign policy on human rights, specifically the religious freedom component.
Open Doors closely follows the policy of the European Institutions regarding syria, Iraq, Nigeria.
On 22 January 2015, Open Doors organised a public meeting in the European Parliament, hosted by three MEPs, in which it presented its Annual world Watch List. This list presents the 50 countries where the violations of religious freedom for Christians is most severe.
Open Doors closely follows the work of the EP Intergroup on Freedom of religion or Belief and Religious Tolerance. Open Doors is one of the civil societies that is consulted regarding the situation of religious freedom worldwide.
All lobby activities of ODI Advocacy are focusing on the right to freedom of religion or belief.
