This expert group aim is to analyse the role of universities and research centres in the smart specialisation process, examine strengths and weaknesses and identify opportunities and propose recommendations for policy makers. The expert group should identify good practices and success stories where universities and research centres have actively contributed to regional development and have developed the capacity to successfully promote the approach of smart specialisation and be actively involved in the process.
