Mission:
The CARS 21 Group developed a vision for "a competitive EU automotive industry and sustainable mobility and growth in 2020 and beyond" and proposed a comprehensive set of recommended actions and policies to realise the vision. In the CARS 2020 Action Plan, the Commission made a commitment to implement a number of actions in response to these recommendations. The CARS 2020 Expert Group will, by providing a stakeholder forum for discussion and strategic advice, aim at ensuring that the measures set out in the CARS 2020 Action Plan are implemented and that the appropriate follow-up is given to the key recommendations of the CARS 21 Final Report. The overarching mission statement of the CARS 2020 Group to ensure competitiveness, sustainability and healthy manufacturing base of the automotive industry in Europe remains unchanged.

Assist the Commission in relation to the implementation of existing Union legislation, programmes and policies
Assist the Commission in the preparation of legislative proposals and policy initiatives
