Mission:
The Single European Sky is an EU initiative that aims at reforming and modernising european air traffic management (ATM). SESAR is the technological pillar of the Single European Sky and an essntial enabler for its implementation. SESAR develops new technologies and procedures for a new generation and better performing ATM system. To fully benefit from these technologies and procedures, they will have to be deployed in a timely, synchronised and coordinated manner. This requires an appropriate governances involving all the stakeholders. The IDSG is a transitional arrangement to steer the implementation of short term essential SESAR deployments identified as critical to performance and to achieve early benefits at European level. The central task of the IDSG will be to steer, coordinate and monitor short term implementation activities on the basis of an Interim Deployment Programme. The steering is primarily achieved through recommendations to the Commission and the oversight of their implementation. The Commission may consult the IDSG on any matter relating to SESAR deployment

Assist the Commission in the preparation of legislation or in policy definition
Establish and maintain the Interim Deployment Programme; Execute the Interim Deployment Programme; Monitoring and Reporting of relevant deployment activities

Provides expertise to the Commission when preparing implementing measures, i.e. before the Commission submits these draft measures to a comitology committee
