The Commission communication on "Increasing the impact of EU Development Policy: An Agenda for Change" highlighted the importance of private sector development and private public collaboration. This message has been reinforced by the 4th High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan, which called for a more direct engagement of the private sector in the area of development policy design, resource mobilisation and the provision of goods and services which benefit the poor.
EU Member States have valuable experience on PSD and the promotion of development partnerships with the private sector. The sharing and further development of this experience is in the interest of the European Union and its Member States. This working group will serve the following purposes:
- Knowledge sharing, analysis and coordination of strategies and instruments for private sector development (PSD), including development partnerships with the private sector (DPP) and public-private partnership (PPP) for the delivery of public goods and services.
- Consultation and advice for the development of PSD-related studies, evaluations and policies.
- Other relevant activity that may arise in the framework of the “EU2020 Strategy”, the “Agenda for change” and future European Commission’s initiatives.
