How to search for dossiers and documents

First click on either 'dossier' or 'document' at the top of the search form.

The more search criteria you enter, the more relevant your results will be. If your search is likely to generate too many results, the register may refuse it.

You can specify how many results should be displayed on each page and how they should be sorted.

By default, results are displayed in ascending order by dossier or document number. You can change this by selecting the preferred sorting and click on the Change-button on top of the list.

By number

The best way to search is to enter the number of the document (e.g.: 000456). The registry does not start numbering documents from zero at the beginning of every year, as it does for dossier numbers, so document numbers are unique identifiers. Search results include all revised versions of the document.

By type

The register contains 6 types of documents:

  • 'Agenda'
  • 'Summary record' of a meeting
  • 'Draft measure'
  • 'Voting results' delivered by the committee
  • 'Urgency letter'
  • 'Other'

By date

Specify the period using the Document date field.

By keyword

Enter any keywords in the 'Title' field. Please note that this criterion is language-sensitive.

By co-decision and procedure

This criterion is only available when searching for draft measures. Ticking the co-decision box limits the search to draft measures related to a basic act adopted under co-decision. You can also specify a particular comitology procedure.
