The Commission is often empowered to implement EU legislation with the assistance of committees composed of representatives from EU countries.
This register contains background information and documents relating to the work of these committees, including all documents forwarded to the EU Parliament for information or scrutiny.
A new improved register
In April 2008 the comitology register was substantially improved for documents relating to committee meetings and written consultations after 1 April 2008. Documents prior to that date are available from the old comitology register.
The comitology register is distinct from the Register of Commission documents which contains other Commission documents ("COM", "C and "SEC" series).
How can the register help me?
The documents available here enable you to trace the different stages of an implementing measure throughout its entire lifecycle.
You can find out about the committees' legal basis and rules of procedure, and the "dossier" for each meeting contains the minutes and written consultation documents.
Disclaimer: The information and documents in the register are drawn up by Commission departments and are not binding on the Commission as an institution.
