As a response to the Consultation on the Green Paper on the European Transparency Initiative, contributions from more than 160 interested parties were received. On 21 March 2007, a Commission Staff Working Document [51 KB] SEC(2007) 360 was published, providing a brief overview of the main results of this consultation.
On the same day, the Commission adopted the Communication on the Follow-up to the Green Paper 'European Transparency Initiative [55 KB] ' COM(2007) 127 which sets out the next steps the Commission will take.

The Commission will
- Create and launch in Spring 2008 a voluntary register for interest representatives, combining it with a new standard template for internet consultations;
- Launch stakeholders discussions on a Code of Conduct before the Summer of 2007 to be linked to the register;
- Reinforce the application of the Commission's consultation standards, which will also help improve the quality of impact assessments;
- Pursue and implement its policy on the publication of the beneficiaries of EU funds.
