EU trade policy sets the direction for trade in and out of the EU.
The Directorate-General for Trade in the European Commission helps to develop and implement EU trade policy. Along with the EU's Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström, we aim to shape a trade environment that is good for people and for business.
Trade policy affects EU citizens and is made with their input.
To make EU policy the best it can be, we have to base it on sound analysis and listen to all input so that the policy accurately reflects EU society's values.
