VAT: European Commission proposes implementing measures for the 1 January 'VAT package'
In preparation for the entry into force on 1 January 2010 of the 'VAT package', the Commission on 17 December adopted a proposal on implementing measures for the VAT Directive. Some of those measures aim to prevent situations of double taxation that could arise as a result of diverging interpretations of the new rules. For more information see the press notice (12th item), the proposal (COM/2009/672) and our new 'Where to tax' web page.
