Conference on sustainable funding models for grassroots sports in the Internal Market
On 16 February 2010, the Commission organised a conference on the financing of grassroots sport and sport for all in the EU Member States.
The conference took place in the framework of a study on the financing of grassroots sport which is being carried out on the basis of the 2007 White Paper on Sport (action no. 37 of the "Pierre de Coubertin" Action Plan). The aim was to present the various financing systems across sports disciplines and Member States, to discuss the impact of the economic crisis on the financing of grassroots sport and to identify possible future challenges. A number of disciplines and countries were selected to be analysed in more detail in the next phase of the study.
