EU Expert Group "Sport Statistics"
The EU Expert Group on Sport Statistics held its first meeting in Brussels on 18 October 2011. The report from the meeting is now available.
This Expert Group is one of six new Expert Groups established by the Council's Resolution on an EU Work Plan for Sport for 2011-2014 
to carry out specific tasks within the 2011-2014 timeframe.
The Group, composed of experts appointed by Member States, is mandated by the Council to recommend ways to promote data collection to measure the economic benefits of the EU sport sector in line with the Vilnius Definition and evaluate the results by end 2013. It will report to the Council Working Party on Sport. At its first meeting, the Group agreed on a work schedule that includes three concrete deliverables.
