The 2015 Pension Adequacy Report: current and future income adequacy in old age in the EU. Volume I & Volume II  (05/10/2015)

Catalog N. :KE-01-15-672-EN-N

This 2015 edition of the Pension Adequacy Report, published in two volumes, assesses the degree to which pensions manage to provide older people with adequate income and poverty protection. Having examined the role of pensions in current living standards, the report discusses the impact of recent pension reforms, analyses the future risks to adequate old-age incomes and makes suggestions as to how these risks might be addressed by Member States, notably by women and men postponing their retirement by working to higher ages and by saving more. The report also underlines the need for mechanisms to protect those unable to have sufficiently long careers and to save adequately.

While the main report, published as volume I, is devoted to a comparative analysis of pension adequacy at EU-28 level, a detailed discussion of pension adequacy in each of the 28 Member States is given in volume II. This publication is available in electronic format in English only.

EGF - Key Achievements 2013-2014  (23/09/2015)

Catalog N. :KE-01-15-567-EN-N

The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) was set up in 2006 to express EU solidarity with workers affected by mass redundancies triggered by shifting world trade patterns. The scope of the Fund was later widened to include also mass lay-offs caused by the Economic and Financial Crisis. Between 2007 and 2014, the European Commission approved 134 EGF applications from Member States, who requested EUR 561.1 million to support 122 121 redundant workers. The EGF measures are delivered in a combination of projects run by national and/or regional authorities. This leaflet seeks to highlight activities supported by the EGF in 2013-14. The information presented is based on the Biennial Report on the EGF which the Commission submitted to the European Parliament and the Council on 22 July 2015.

Catalog N. :KE-XC-15-001-EN-N

During 2014 the EaSI (The EU programme for employment and social innovation) helped to generate evidence to make a significant contribution to EU policy initiatives launched in the field of employment and social affairs. It also supported policy coordination, the sharing of best practice, capacity building and testing of innovative policies. The EaSI (via its EURES axis) contributed to a better functioning of the labour markets by facilitating geographical mobility of workers, providing greater transparency on the labour market and ensuring the clearance of vacancies and applications for employment at European level.

2014 Social Protection Performance Monitor (SPPM) dashboard results  (01/09/2015)

Catalog N. :KE-02-15-585-EN-N

This short summary report presents an overview of recent developments in the social situation in EU Member States, based on the results from the latest edition of the Social Protection Performance Monitor (SPPM). It is produced by the Social Protection Committee as part of its work of monitoring social situations in the Member States. The 2014 dashboard results paint a picture of little improvement in the overall social situation in the EU, with ongoing disparities across Member States and, for some, a worsening situation. Unemployment, poverty and social exclusion again stand out as areas of concern, despite early signs of economic recovery.
