The CD-ROM attached to this publication contains the MISSOC comparative tables on European social protection systems in an interactive web page format as well as in a PDF version. It also includes descriptive information about the organisational structure of social protection in each country and the social protection systems for the self-employed. This publication is available in English, French and German.

Using commonly agreed indicators, this report identifies the predominant factors affecting child poverty in each country. Indicators have not been used to name and shame but to group countries according to the common challenges they face: joblessness, in-work poverty, insufficient support to families. The report also reviews the national monitoring and evaluation systems in place and draws 15 recommendations to better assess and monitor child poverty and the multiple dimensions of child well-being across the EU. This leaflet is a summary of a study which focuses on lone-parent households, analysing the reasons why they experience higher poverty risks and the barriers they have to face in order to access employment and other means of social inclusion. opportunities. This second joint report on social protection and social inclusion examines the first ever integrated national strategies on social inclusion, pensions, healthcare and long-term care. Commissioned by DG Employment and Social Affairs of the European Commission in December 2005, this research builds upon the recommendations of the study carried out in 2003 by the French statistical institute (INSEE) on behalf of Eurostat. This report provides tools to improve the knowledge of homelessness and housing deprivation.

This Communication is a follow-up to the White Paper on services of general interest, which announced a "systematic approach in order to identify and recognise the specific characteristics of social and health services of general interest and to clarify the framework in which they operate and can be modernised" as reiterated in the Social Agenda and the Community Lisbon programme.
