This second joint report on social protection and social inclusion examines the first ever integrated national strategies on social inclusion, pensions, healthcare and long-term care. It reviews the main trends across the EU and at national level. The report includes country profiles identifying the key challenges in each Member State. It is available in English only.
Commissioned by DG Employment and Social Affairs of the European Commission in December 2005, this research builds upon the recommendations of the study carried out in 2003 by the French statistical institute (INSEE) on behalf of Eurostat. This report provides tools to improve the knowledge of homelessness and housing deprivation.
The CD-ROM attached to this publication contains the MISSOC comparative tables on European social protection systems in an interactive web page format as well as in a PDF version. It also includes descriptive information about the organisational structure of social protection in each country and the social protection systems for the self-employed. This Communication is a follow-up to the White Paper on services of general interest, which announced a "systematic approach in order to identify and recognise the specific characteristics of social and health services of general interest and to clarify the framework in which they operate and can be modernised" as reiterated in the Social Agenda and the Community Lisbon programme. The aim of the study is to analyse the policy measures concerning the specific situation of disadvantaged youth in the age group 16-25, and the study will particularly analyse access to employment. This policy study will examine successful policy approaches to including those at risk across a number of Member States and candidate countries. It will aim to identify the key mix of elements that are necessary to reduce the level of poverty and unemployment amongst this age group. The publication is available in English, French and German.
