The Learning Exchange that took place on 20 September 2013 in Riga was organised as a follow up to a previous learning exchange that took place in Athens in October 2012, where Latvia and Greece both expressed an interest in discussing their training voucher systems in more detail.
The sixth Integrating Cities conference will be hosted by the city of Tampere and held alongside the Metropolis International Conference. Representatives from cities, regional and national governments, EU institutions, civil society, academia and international organisations are invited to Tampere to address main challenges and implementation gaps around migrant integration in Europe today.
A Learning Exchange was held in Berlin on 5-6 September 2013. It was attended by a variety of stakeholders connected to or interested in the German dual system, from the following countries: Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Portugal. The attending countries are all in the process of developing or enhancing dual training systems.

The European Alliance for Apprenticeships was launched in Leipzig on 2 July and aims to increase the quality and supply of apprenticeships across Europe and change mind-sets towards apprenticeship-type learning. This would facilitate a smooth transition of young people from education to work.
On 26 June 2013, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission hosted a Thematic Event of the Mutual Learning Programme focusing on how to promote pathways for the development of green skills and jobs.
The Mutual Learning Programme (MLP) thematic event will be held on 26 June in Brussels and be devoted to "Pathways to green jobs: strategies and policy options for a sustainable job-rich recovery".
The 6th EU-India Seminar on Employment and Social Policy dedicated to social protection took place in Brussels on 24 and 25 June.
