According to a study just published by the European Commission in most EU countries, EU citizens from other Member States use welfare benefits no more intensively than the host country's nationals. Mobile EU citizens are less likely to receive disability and unemployment benefits in most countries studied.

This conference will mark the first anniversary of the new regulations modernising the coordination of social security systems in the EU, applied 1 May 2010.
On 1st May 2010, the legislative package known as "modernised EU social security coordination", started to apply in the 27 EU Member States. A number of significant changes to the previous coordination regime were introduced.
