The creative competition projekteuropa for Austrian students celebrated its 2011/12 edition under the motto “Jung und alt – ZUSAMMENhalt!” (Young and old - Solidarity!), as a commitment to the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations.
Over 6,000 students (and their teachers) answered to the invitation and presented artistic works reflecting ideas related to the EY2012, such as dialogue between generations, stereotypes about ageing, cultural differences between young and old, etc.
projekteuropa helps to raise more consciousness for artistic forms of work and provides an insight to the wide range of creativity in Austrian schools. The means used by students participating in the competition are manifold: from pictures, textile works, sculptures and installations in public spaces and digital works, to music, videos and texts.
The best works selected by the jury have been published in a “postcard-catalogue” which can be downloaded here.
The creative competition projekteuropa is funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture (BMUKK) and organized by KulturKontakt Austria.
Illustrating this news, the art piece "Menschen verbinden. Großmutters Bild" (Connecting people. Grandmothers portrait), made by 187 pupils of 8 classes (6 - 10 years) from the Elementary School Josefstadt, in Wiener Neustadt.
