A meeting between generations took place on 3rd May in the Stoyu Shishkov school, in Smolyan (Bulgaria) to celebrate the European Day of Solidarity between Generations.
The event, which took place within the frame of the Generations@school project, coincided also with the 150th anniversary of the school.
Students welcomed all guests with a poem and a theatrical performance, and engaged in dialogue with the seniors attending the event. Popular folk singer Valya Balkanska also attended, and spoke about her life and experiences, which shaped her own artistic production, such as the song "Izlel ye Delyo Haydutin" about Delyo, a rebel leader who was active in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Valya shared a a good piece of advice with the students: to follow their dreams.
The event proved that children and senior citizens can interact in an amazing way. There were joint activities like drawing, sewing, singing and cooking and everybody had real fun. The goal of the project, which is to shorten the distance between different generations, was achieved by finding a common language that allowed them to communicate better, help each other and live with more harmony and empathy, as generations of the same world.
