The Estonian Ministry for Social Affairs launches a section on the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012 within its website.
This section of the ministerial website helps in spreading the message of the European Year within Estonia and beyond. The aims for the European Year in Estonia are to raise awareness on ageing issues through workshops, training sessions, debates, campaigns, surveys and studies. The events described are designed to increase intergenerational solidarity, and in particular to sustain the financing of pensions and health care system. Active ageing means having good health in old age, participating in society, being autonomous and active in everyday life. The European Year is an opportunity to raise awareness, to highlight good practice, and encourage policy makers and stakeholders to disseminate ideas of active ageing.
