In a subtle and graceful way, Belgian photographer Edouard Janssens has tackled the subject of ageing in the project "1 to 100 Years", undertaken in the frame of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations.
Currently exhibited outside the Berlaymont European Commission building in Brussels, the project consists on the portraits of 100 women and 100 men, aged from 1 to 100.
According to Janssens, his goal with this initiative is to show the ageing process in a positive manner and to visualize the continuous link between generations. “The smile and the looks that have so much to tell us are the key points of this big gallery”, he says.
All participants (or their parents) volunteered registering online. Actually, Janssens portrait can be seen at number 50 on the men’s side.
The exhibition in Brussels will be open until September 30th. All pictures are also available on the project's website as slideshow videos.
