Residents from The ExtraCare Charitable Trust's 29 retirement schemes across the Midlands and North of England are participating in a 715-mile (1,151 km) five-month relay with their own Olympic-style torch, designed by Brunswick Gardens resident Vic Gould.
Involving a mix of activities and residents, the torch began its journey on March 1st at Gloucester’s St Oswald’s Retirement Village and is visiting every retirement scheme and village on its way to an Olympic celebration at Milton Keynes’ Shenley Wood Village on July 27 - to coincide with the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Games.
Pictures of the torch relay are available here.
