On the occasion of the European Day of Solidarity between Generations, the Ministry of National Resources of Hungary organised a full day of activities at the popular Millenáris leisure park in Budapest.
The aim of the event was to reach not only older people, but families, to promote active ageing and intergenerational solidarity.
The children music band Magonc (Seedling) opened the event. Miklós Réthelyi, Minister of National Resources, emphasized in his welcome speech that the intergenerational link between people can be the resource of a nation.
The programme of activities, which took place along different stages, included concerts for all ages, contests and exhibitions of arts and crafts, gastronomy and toys and games of old times. There were also computer consulting and health-related activities.
At the “Tree of Life” area people could sign the banner of intergenerational solidarity and listen to the stories old people had submitted to “The way of life” contest, which were read by young actors.
