Eurofound recently contributed to a special supplement in The Irish Times dedicated to the European Year 2012 entitled "Living longer and better", as a way of sharing its new research findings and analysis on the issues relating to ageing and solidarity between generations.

The widely publicised and highly discussed supplement includes a foreword by Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland, and a series of articles by Carl O’Brien, Joanne Hunt and Fiona Reddan, among others, which explore the changing face of growing old in Europe and in Ireland.

The supplement also includes profiles of some of the Irish European Year’s volunteers and case studies of active ageing initiatives, such as high-street retailer Marks & Spencer's commitment to employ 50+ years old workers in Ireland.

The EU-body Eurofound (European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions) is in charge of providing information, advice and expertise for key actors in the field of EU social policy on the basis of comparative information, research and analysis.
