On 5 May the Regional Representation of the European Commission in Bonn invited professionals and interested citizens to a workshop on projects and initiatives in the framework of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations.
Participants discussed possibilities to initiate projects in cooperation with the EU in view of developing and spreading the idea of an age-friendly Europe.
The event was launched by the Head of the Regional Representation of the European Commission in Bonn, Stephan Koppelberg, who explained the significance of concrete measures to meet the challenge of an ageing society. In different presentations the NGO partners provided some background on the European Year 2012.
Concrete practical aspects were dealt with in two working groups: the communication and public relations group aimed at raising awareness on starting initiatives, and the second group focused on desired results, impact and the importance of a professional project design for its success.
