Film competition to promote solidarity between generations

As part of the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, the European People's Party (EPP) and the EPP Group in the Committee of the Regions have launched a 60 second film competition for citizens of EU member-states and Croatia under the age of 30.

"Demographic change has consequences for us all. Whilst the impact of a low birth rate, longer lives and migration differ from region to region, nearly every sphere of life and almost every policy field throughout Europe is affected," Michael Schneider, President of the EPP Group in the Committee of the Regions explained. "By launching this competition we want to give young people the chance to share their ideas on the opportunities and benefits from living and working with other generations so that they can help us find a better solution for tomorrow," EPP President Wilfried Martens added.

The competition closes on 15 May 2012 and following a Facebook vote, the three winners will be invited to Brussels to see their film screened as part of a special event in November 2012.
