Brussels - January 21st, 2013
On 21 January 2013, as a follow-up to the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, a conference organised by the European Commission, together with the AEIP, the Federation of the Dutch Pension Funds, MN, PensionsEurope, APG and PGGM will focus on "The role of pension funds in active ageing and solidarity between generations".
The event, which will take place in the Berlaymont building of the European Commission in Brussels, will be opened by a keynote speech on “Sustainable and adequate Pensions through Active Ageing” by Ralf Jacob, European Commission.
Keynote speakers will include László Andor, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, and a range of experts from Member States, academia, social partners, pension funds and companies who will discuss how to promote active ageing and intergenerational solidarity.
The programme will also focus on themes such the “Role of the social partners in promoting active ageing and intergenerational solidarity” and the “Role of pension funds in promoting active ageing and intergenerational solidarity”, before taking a look at various practical examples from around the EU.
The Closing of Conference by László Andor will then be followed by a discussion with the Commissioner, together with Francesco Briganti, Director of AEIP, and Matti Leppälä, Secretary General of Pensions Europe, on how to promote active ageing and the role of pension funds in this respect.
