Six EaSI Technical Assistance workshops during the MFC-EMN Annual Conference 2018

The new phase of the EaSI Technical Assistance Programme kicks off with six workshops, which will be held at the MFC-EMN Annual Conference 2018.

The joint Microfinance Centre (MFC) and European Microfinance Network (EMN) conference People and the Digital Revolution will focus on the implications of the digital revolution on financial and social inclusion. It will take place in Bilbao, Spain from 3-5 October 2018, at the Euskalduna Conference Centre.

The first pre-conference event called Data for Alternative Credit Scoring and Other Uses: Introduction to Data Analytics and Applications in Microfinance, is taking place on 3 October. It is dedicated to emerging models of alternative credit scoring for improving the scale, efficiency and risk management of participating microfinance institutions (MFIs).

Four workshops will take place during the official conference days:

The first three workshops, taking place on 4 October, will focus on the usage of different digital solutions by MFIs, as well as on the potential opportunities and challenges of capturing and analysing data to improve financial inclusion in the region.

Workshop #14 will be held on 5 October and it will explore the impact of microfinance and its potential to improve access to funding opportunities for vulnerable groups and small enterprises.

All EaSI Technical Assistance workshops, which take place during the official conference days are open for attendance to all conference guests and do not require registration.

In addition, a post-conference event in cooperation with Seed Capital Bizkaia will take place on 6 October. During this workshop, interested MFIs will find out more about Seed Capital Bizkaia’s business model and its own crowdfunding platform. Interested participants can register for this workshop and check the preliminary programme online.

In total, about 600 microfinance practitioners, policy makers, financial inclusion experts, FinTech representatives and development officials from over 40 countries are expected at the conference.
