European Social Services Conference: Transforming lives through innovation and technology!

Organised annually by the European Social Network (ESN), the European Social Services Conference brings together all those with an interest in social welfare to exchange knowledge on contemporary social policy and practice.

Co-hosted for the first time by the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, this 25th anniversary edition will explore how new innovative practices and technology can help create better local social services for the future.

The 3-day programme is available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish and features speakers from the European institutions, such as the EU Commission’s Director for Social Affairs, Georg Fischer. he will take part in the final panel discussion on Wednesday, 28th and will bring his expertise on the table, discussing about game changers for the future of social services.

Also, there will be guests from national governments, such as the Maltese Minister for Family and Social Solidarity, Michael Farrugia and from the local level, with representatives of regional governments and European capitals and cities. In addition, participants can hear from researchers and academics, corporates and different stakeholders involved in shaping the future of social welfare. The 2017 edition will also host a fringe event, the Nordic Day 2017, which will be about locally developed working methods to respond to new challenges, such as that of unaccompanied minors.
