You may be thinking about moving to another EU country for work. If so you will probably be interested in job opportunities, working conditions, recognition of qualifications and your social security rights.
You may find it hard to get a job. Older workers, young people the disabled and ethnic minorities face particular difficulties. Women are over-represented in less well-paid and less secure parts of the economy.
The EU is working to create more and better jobs, particularly through the European Employment Strategy. The European Commission facilitates joint action by national governments, with input from trade unions, employer's organisations, local authorities and other partners.
The EU is taking action to tackle the impact of the current economic crisis on jobs.
The EU's Employment Committee plays a very important role in the development and implementation of the European Employment Strategy.
The EU also provides financial support for action in this area through the European Social Fund and the PROGRESS programme.
