On 27 April, all over Portugal, 1st and 2nd cycle schools adhered to launch the project "Generations @ School" integrating initiatives designated by the European Commission to celebrate the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations.
We highlight the initiatives undertaken in João de Deus School, in Externato Colina do Sol, and in the 1st cycle Basic Education of Montebello, in Porto, in Cova da Moura's and Santa Eulalia's Basic Education, in College Parkids and Basic Education, 2nd and 3 cycles, of São Martinho do Porto.
The schools opened the doors of the classroom to older persons, creating opportunities for dialogue. The main goal is to fight stereotypes between generations andm simultaneously, encourage different generations to a greater sharing of experience and knowledge. The process of learning through sharing will lead to greater awareness of society about the meaning of active ageing.
