The evaluation serves as an interim evaluation of the European Progress Microfinance Facility, which aims to increase access to finance for microentrepreneurs, including the self-employed. It has a particular focus on, but is not restricted to, groups with limited access to the conventional credit market, such as female entrepreneurs, young entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs belonging to a minority group, entrepreneurs with a disability, etc.

The European Progress Microfinance Facility (Progress Microfinance), launched in 2010, aims to increase access to microfinance throughout Europe. Microfinance is a vital tool in encouraging growth, giving people who might not otherwise have the opportunity the chance to realise their entrepreneurial ambitions. The Progress Microfinance leaflet gives an overview of the ways in which the initiative promotes employment and social inclusion in Europe and details how people can apply for microcredit. It shows portraits of entrepreneurs across Europe who have already benefited from the Progress Microfinance. The leaflet is available in printed format in 22 EU official languages and in electronic format in Irish.
The European Progress Microfinance Facility (Progress Microfinance) is an EU initiative aimed at making it easier for people who want to start or develop their own small business to access credit. This initiative promotes employment and social inclusion through entrepreneurship and self-employment in Europe and is closely coordinated with existing instruments to support microfinance in the European Union. The European Progress Microfinance Facility is operational as of June 2010. It aims to ease access to credit for people wishing to start or develop their own micro-enterprise (including self-employment) by providing loans of up to €25 000. The European Investment Fund will manage the Facility on behalf of the European Commission. Individual entrepreneurs wanting to apply for a loan can do so viamicroloan providers selected selected by the European Investment Fund.. Those seeking funding can also benefit from guidance and coaching, often with the support of the European Social Fund. This leaflet is available in printed format in all EU official languages.
