Description of the Organisation:
Parents International (IPA) is the European (and international) umbrella organisation of parent organisations and organisations working with or for parents. As a membership organisation, it represents its members and offers collaboration opportunities. The main activities of IPA are related to training and advocacy, including independent research to support these. IPA operates on the basis of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the only piece of legislation that defines the roles, rights and responsibilities of parents, ratified in all countries of the World except the USA. Formal education is accountable to parents on the basis of this, and in the field of apprenticeships IPA's main activities are about supporting apprenticeship providers in engaging with parents (including the parents of young adult apprentices whose parents do not have a formal role, but in most cases have a major impact on their learning outcomes) and supporting parents in becoming engaged.
