Advice on apprenticeship and traineeship schemes - Helpdesk

What is it?

This is a new service covering all EU Member States, providing strategic, operational and policy advice on setting up, running, improving or evaluating apprenticeship and traineeship schemes/programmes.

The Helpdesk offers:

  • Enquiry service via a website form, email or phone
  • One-to-one advice and tailored consultancy from specialist policy experts
  • Regularly updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  • Knowledge bank of relevant information

Who is it for?

  • Policy makers at national, regional and local level in the areas of youth employment, education and training policies
  • ESF Managing Authorities
  • Relevant national and regional agencies
  • Social partners

How does it work?

The Helpdesk provides assistance and consultancy support for planning, establishing, improving and managing apprenticeship and traineeship schemes. The Helpdesk can be accessed by email, website or phone (each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon). The Helpdesk Team is able to provide assistance in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Polish.

Questions related to ESF procedures and eligibility, including by ESF project promoters, should be directed to your national ESF Managing Authority.

When will the Helpdesk operate?

The Helpdesk will be open until the end of 2014. It will be closed during August and 15 December to 15 January.

How can you contact us?


  • Contact us by phone on +44 (0) 121 212 8933 on Tuesday and Thursday 14.00 - 18.00 CET (Central European Time). Please note that initial phone responses will be in English: for other available languages (FR, DE, ES, IT, PL), please send an email or complete a web-form so that we can arrange for an expert with appropriate language skills to call you back.

When can you expect our response?

You will receive a response from our Helpdesk Team within 3 working days (2 working days from September – 15 December 2013). If you enquiry requires more time to respond - for example, due to matching you with a suitable policy specialist - we will let you know the expected timeframe within the 3 days.

The support service is provided by Ecorys on behalf of the European Commission. It is financed by ESF technical assistance, European Commission, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.
