Employment trends and policies for older workers in the recession
This report summarises available data on recent employment trends for older workers in the EU27 as well as the results of organisation case studies and overviews on developments in workplace age management undertaken by Eurofound in 2011. The first section uses Eurostat data to provide a statistical portrait of the main trends in relation to labour market participation of older workers. The second section provides pointers on how age management policy has developed at company and national level before, during and after the Great Recession.
New skills and jobs in Europe: Pathways towards full employment
The Europe 2020 employment strategy, and in particular its initiative ‘An agenda for new skills and jobs’, aims to support the full employment goal of the Lisbon Treaty. In a context of growing challenges for employment policies in Europe, this report questions current approaches and calls for increased policy learning amongst EU Member States. The report argues that there is room for improvement in employment in Europe and emphasizes the importance of improving access to education, developing more transversal skills and balancing job security and flexibility.

Social and Employment Situation in Cyprus
This Report provides a general overview of the employment and social situation in Cyprus, especially during the crisis, as well as relevant social policies in place, taking into account the national reform programme to implement the Employment Guidelines in the form of measures to reach the EU 2020 goals. It then provides an overview of presidency priorities of relevance to the EMPL committee by indicating which dossiers will probably move forward during the Cyprus presidency and which ones are less likely to do so.
