Privacy statement

Below is an explanation of how Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion DG (DG EMPL) uses data obtained through on-line subscriptions to its publications, and how the confidentiality of such data is protected.

The what, how and why of data collection

The following data is obtained from the list of free subscribers to our publications:

These data are gathered in order to compile mailing lists for the free information material published by DG EMPL as part of its communication activities.

The information is saved in a database via an online form, checked to eliminate fictitious or incorrect data, and validated for future use.

Access to the data

Authorised personnel of DG EMPL's Unit G/3 ("Communication") and of the Publications Office of the European Union ("Distribution" section) have access to the data collected and have sole authority to read and correct it in the event of input error.

Protection of the database

The database is protected by the standard relational database security mechanisms.

Checking, changing or deleting data

This database is not fed directly from the online form. The data collected via the form are first checked and then validated. If you wish to check the data concerning you, you will need to contact one of the database managers directly (see contact address below).

You can change your personal data via the subscription form by checking the box “Address change request?” You can ask for your personal data to be deleted by completing the online subscription cancellation form.

Period for which data are kept

The information in the database is kept only for as long as it is needed for its intended purpose. In this case, this means for as long as DG EMPL continues to send out free information material by post or email.
