The what, how and why of data collection

The following data is obtained from the contact form:

These data are gathered in order for users to be contacted by the European Commission's Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, as part of its communication activities and for collecting statistical data on the enquiries.

These data are not relevant for the treatment of the enquiries, which are all carefully handled and answered.

The information is saved in a repository, checked to eliminate fictitious or incorrect data, and validated for future use.

All personal data provided to the Commission is handled strictly in accordance with Regulation 45/2001 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data.

Data controller

The controller of your personal data is the department of Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion that will answer your enquiry. Please see below the "contact" section.

Access to the data

Authorised personnel in the responsible unit in the European Commission's Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (depending on the subject of your request) have access to the data collected and have sole authority to read and correct it in the event of input error.

Security measures

Only staff dealing with issues regarding your specific enquiry will have access to your personal data. Data are stored in a file system and electronic mailboxes, which are protected by personal access control.

Checking, changing or deleting data

You have the right to check, change or ask for deletion of your data. See "Contact address" section below.

Period for which data are kept

Your personal data are used only for as long as it is needed for its intended purpose (i.e. to answer your enquiry). After answering data can be kept for another two years for possible administrative follow up purposes.
