Development of an EMG-system
The deduction and recording of electrical signals which result from muscle activation, is called electromyography. The aim of our project was to develop a multichannel electromyography system. This system consists of an EMG-device and software.
The EMG-device amplifies the muscle signals in several steps from 2mV up to +/- 10V. Filters improve the signal quality. Then a data acquisition system, consisting of a multiplexer, an A/D converter and a micro controller, converts the analogue voltage into a digital value. Another controller sends these data through a parallel port to the PC. There the second part of our project, the software, records and displays the data. This software also enables the user to analyse and compare different records. Some features of our system are: 4 channels, 16-Bit ADC, 10 kHz sampling rate, software with average functionality .
