TRA 2008 to highlight accomplishments of young researchers

The Young European Arena of Research is an FP7-funded competition for early-stage researchers in the area of road transport. It will give students an opportunity to showcase their work, both on the internet and, for the finalists, at the Transport Research Arena (TRA 2008) conference in Slovenia in April 2008.

Students are being asked to submit an abstract online in one of six categories, which will then be published on the YEAR website. The selected abstracts will showcase the full range of road transportation research in Europe.

YEAR competition categories

  • Future visions
  • Safety and security
  • Infrastructure design and production
  • Automotive design and production
  • Transport, mobility and infrastructure
  • Energy, environment and resources

Once all the submissions are in, 50 finalists will be chosen and invited to display their work at the TRA 2008 conference in Ljubljana, now expected to draw about 1500 delegates from around the world.

Early-stage researchers registered full-time in college or university within the EU, EU candidate countries, potential EU candidate countries and the European Economic Area are eligible to apply.

50 finalists will receive a contribution towards travel and accommodation costs to attend the TRA 2008 conference. The conference fee will also be covered. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in each of the six categories.

The deadline for submissions is 22 February 2008. For full details, see the  YEAR websiteexternal link
