Call for proposals closed
As part of the Framework Programme for research, which funds excellent European science, the European Commission regularly launches calls for proposals. The call for proposals for transport research that was launched on 19 July 2011 closed on 1 December 2011, receiving more applications than last year.
Overall, the Commission received more applications than during the last call for proposals on transport research:
- 156 applications in response to the calls in the domain of surface transport (for which a total of €114 million will be allocated);
- 184 applications in response to the calls in the domain of aeronautics and air transport (for which a total of €136 million will be allocated), not including the 5 applications received in response to a joint call with Japan (for which €4 million will be allocated by the Commission, supplemented by the same amount from the Japanese government);
- 29 applications in response to the horizontal calls (for which a total of €10 million will be allocated).
All applications received will now undergo an eligibility check (according to the criteria outlined in the Work Programme 2012). The eligible proposals will be evaluated by experts between December 2011 and March 2012.
It is expected that the projects selected for funding will be invited to negotiations in March 2012. We are aiming to sign the Grant Agreements with successful applicants starting June 2012. A next round of transport research related calls will be launched in July 2012.
